Guides for spine surgeons
Four short guides to the concepts ScolioSim measures and plans with. Each one says what the concept is, how it is measured or decided, how ScolioSim does it, and where the numbers come from.
Roussouly classification
The four sagittal shapes of the lumbar spine, the type the pelvis calls for against the type the patient stands in, the two arcs of the lordosis, reference values and ideal profiles by type, and how ScolioSim reads them from a lateral radiograph.
Lenke classification
Curve types 1 to 6, the rule that makes the major curve structural, the criteria for structural minor curves, the lumbar and sagittal modifiers, and how ScolioSim classifies a case from the fitted model and the bending films.
Spinopelvic parameters
How each spinopelvic angle is measured on a standing lateral radiograph, the Legaye relations between incidence, slope and lordosis, the GAP score as a measure of proportion, and the landmarks ScolioSim asks you to mark.
Osteotomy planning on the radiograph
How the film is cut and moved to plan a PSO, an SPO/Ponte osteotomy, an interbody or asymmetric cage, a resection or a slide, in the frontal and the lateral plane, what the tools do, and how the osteotomy level acts on the lordosis arcs.
ScolioSim does not forecast. It moves the film as marked and compares shapes with published norms; it does not foresee how the patient will stand afterward.
Measure, plan and simulate on your own radiographs, in the browser. Nothing about a patient or a case is stored on a server.
